The congregation of St. Andrew's Haney United Church believes it is called by God to be a place where all people are welcome to worship, to explore and to find support, while being challenged to share their faith in God through Christ by being sister and brother to all our neighbours.
Part of the way we live out this mission is by an intentional series of spiritual and life practices.
The United Church of Canada was formed in 1925 by the amalgamation of all of the Union Churches of Western Canada, along with all of the Methodist and Congregationalist churches in Canada, and about 70% of the Presbyterian Churches in Canada.
St. Andrew's United began in Haney in 1865 with the Maple Ridge Methodist Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. In 1925 the MR Methodist Chrch (then United) disbanded and joined the then St. Andrew's United... which then changed its name to Haney United Church.
By 1931, the name had reverted to St. Andrew's, later adding the name Haney in recognition of a Roman Catholic pioneer - Thomas Haney - who donated the land for the original building of the Haney churches.
