Congregational Governance
St. Andrew's Haney has done a great deal of work in creating a working organizational structure for congregational governance. While you are more than welcome to check out the detailed overview (PDF Format), it can best be explained in this way:
- Annually, the Congregation elects some of its members to be the Church Board. (We call these individuals "Elders".)
- The Church Board is responsible for discerning and articulating God's call for the congregation, and enacting policies to help move us in that direction.
- The Board Executive is responsible for developing the foundational plans to put the Board's policy and direction into place. The Executive is also responsible for making sure that the Divisions are living out their designated ministries, and that the Divisions have the resources and people necessary to live out those ministries.
- The Divisions are the working bodies responsible for detail planning and action.
